PAISLEY MAN CAUGHT WITH OVER 5,000 CHILD ABUSE IMAGES FACES COURT
A Paisley man has been caught with over 5,000 illegal images depicting child sexual exploitation and abuse.The police executed a search warrant at Thomas Southall's flat in Heriot Avenue in March 2023, seizing two mobile phones and discovering the vile collection of images.
Over 700 of these images were classified as Category A, indicating the most severe forms of abuse.
Additionally, the analysis of the phones revealed two images of bestiality.
Southall admitted to possessing indecent images of children between October 4, 2019, and March 21, 2023, at his Paisley residence.
He also confessed to possessing extreme pornographic images depicting sexual acts between adults and dogs from November 11, 2022, to March 21, 2023.
During the police search, Southall was reportedly cooperative, understanding the warrant.
The analysis from the cybercrime unit confirmed the details.
The court heard that 5,297 images of child sexual exploitation and abuse were recovered, with classifications into categories A, B, and C.
Sixteen videos were also found, with nine in Category A.
Furthermore, two images depicting sexual activity involving adults and dogs were recovered from Southall's Samsung device.
He was subsequently reported to the procurator fiscal and placed on the sex offenders' register.
The court deferred sentencing until October 31 for additional assessments, and Southall's bail was extended.
