BAILDON MAN JAILED FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES AFTER ONLINE CHAT
A child sex pervert who used the name “fat guy” when he contacted an undercover police officer posing as a 12-year-old girl has been jailed for six years.Baildon man Thomas Neely, 32, told the “girl” during the graphic online chat that he was looking to have some fun and would love to be her first after making contact in September last year.
Bradford Crown Court heard on Friday, November 14 that the chat moved onto the Kik social media platform and Neely sent a picture of his penis and discussed meeting up with the youngster before going to a house in Coventry.
Neely confirmed that he wanted to have sex with the girl and sent a video of himself performing a sex act.
The court heard that when Neely was traced through his IP address, bedding at his home matched that seen on the video clip he had sent to the undercover officer.
Prosecutor Becky Jane said Neely had also tried to permanently delete apps on his smart phone.
Back in 2016, Neely, of Valley View, Baildon, had been given a caution for possessing an indecent image of a child and at a crown court hearing earlier this week he admitted attempting to cause a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity.
He also pleaded guilty to further charges of attempting to cause a child to watch a sexual act, attempting to engage in sexual communication and attempting to arrange or facilitate the commission of a child sexual act.
Recorder Jason Pitter KC said the previous caution was a significant aggravating feature of the case.
During the chat Neely told the “girl” that if she had any kinks or fantasies he could teach her those too.
The judge said: “That is deeply, deeply troubling because you believed she was 12.
He said the sex chat was strong evidence that Neely had every intention of carrying out the offences if the girl had been real.
The judge took account of Neely’s personal circumstances and submissions from his barrister, but he said there was no alternative to the immediate jail sentence.
