BRADFORD WOMAN JAILED FOR STABBING EX IN LEEDS
A woman from Baildon, West Yorkshire, named Courtney Mulchrone has been found guilty of wounding her ex-boyfriend, Jordan Minnott, with a large kitchen knife after a night out in Leeds. The attack happened in the early morning hours of May 5th last year at a caravan site.
As a consequence of her actions, Mr.
Minnott, aged 32, was placed in a coma for four days and faced a long period of rehabilitation, including relearning to walk.
During the court proceedings, it was revealed that Mulchrone, 28 years old, had engaged in a toxic relationship with Minnott for roughly four months.
The relationship involved her flirting with other men to provoke jealousy, which resulted in her slapping Minnott when he did not respond as she hoped.
Following this altercation, Minnott left in a taxi, but Mulchrone repeatedly phoned him, issuing threats to harm him and his property, and even threatening to take her own life.
It was reported in court that she explicitly threatened to 'kill' him and warned, 'You don’t know who you’re messing with.' Later, she found Minnott's car and argued with him, which then escalated to her stabbing him, leaving him injured on the ground.
She was initially charged with attempted murder but was later convicted of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
She was sentenced to six years and three months' imprisonment, with half to be served before she can be released on licence.
An indefinite restraining order was also put in place.
The court described her attack as unprovoked and emphasized the quick response of medical services that saved Minnott’s life.
He described the incident as one of the most frightening moments he has experienced, feeling numb and watching himself lie motionless, fearing he might die.
He woke up four days later, unable to move, and dependent on a feeding tube, after suffering serious injuries both physically and psychologically, which now prevent him from returning to his role as a groundsman.
Before sentencing, Mulchrone showed remorse by blowing a kiss and waving at her family.
The judge noted that her assault was unprovoked and commended the prompt medical care that averted a potential tragedy, emphasizing the importance of quick intervention in such situations.
