MIDDLESBROUGH MAN CAUGHT AFTER DOWNLOADING CHILD ABUSE IMAGES
A pervert who was arrested at work after police were tipped-off about his deviant online activity has walked free from court.Thomas James Worthy immediately confessed to downloading sickening videos and images over a two-year period when he was arrested and subsequently appeared in court.
The 28-year-old had 27 child abuse images and videos stored on his digital devices as well as a further prohibited image of a child, Teesside Crown Court heard.
Imogen Eastham-Brown, prosecuting, said Worthy was arrested at work on August 23 last year and a search of his mobile phone and tablets revealed his collection of child abuse.
Worthy, of Falcon Road, Middlesbrough, pleaded guilty to making eight indecent images of children in Category A; a further seven images in Category B; 12 in Category C; and the possession of one prohibited image of child between April and August last year.
Nick Ayres, mitigating, urged the judge to follow the recommendations in his client’s pre-sentence report.
Recorder Ciaran Rankin sentenced Worthy to a two-year community order and made him subject to a five-year sexual harm prevention order.
He said: “To your credit, and it is considerable credit given what most do in these circumstances, you admitted the offences without any sugar coating.
“Further to your credit, you pleaded guilty at the earliest opportunity.
Before that, you were a man of good character but you have thrown all of that away.
You now stand convicted of very serious sexual offences.”
