SERIAL DOMESTIC ABUSER FROM KELTY PUT THE BLAME ON HIS WIFE’S 'NAGGING'
A NON-HARASSMENT order has been imposed on a serial domestic offender.Stuart Clark, 36, now of Main Street, Kelty, was told by a sheriff he had a "very bad record for domestic abuse".
At Dunfermline Sheriff Court, Clark admitted that on January 19, at an address in Cowdenbeath, he acted aggressively, shouted and swore at his wife repeatedly and made offensive remarks.
The court was told a row started when Clark's wife returned home after being out of the house for a period.
Clark started shouting at her and questioned her whereabouts, saying: "Do you expect me to believe you were at Next?" She phoned the police, but Clark continued his abusive behaviour, entering the bedroom and saying: "I’ll do what I want.
This is my house," before following her downstairs and remaining verbally abusive.
The defence solicitor James Moncrieff described Clark as having issues with alcohol and trust, acknowledging he is "not a very nice person" when intoxicated.
Sheriff Charles Macnair highlighted Clark’s history of domestic offending, including a five-year supervision order and participation in a domestic abuse groupwork programme.
The sheriff condemned Clark's conduct and attitude, stating the main problem was his wife's "nagging" and indicating that a fine was insufficient for his "little shouting and swearing".
Consequently, Clark was sentenced to a community payback order with 150 hours of unpaid work and a two-year non-harassment order.
