STEWART FORGIE FROM GRANGEMOUTH CAUGHT WITH 200,000 CHILD ABUSE IMAGES AND VIDEOS IN SHOCKING POLICE RAID
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Grangemouth, Stewart Forgie, a 66-year-old resident of Poplar Street, was found to be in possession of an alarming collection of child abuse material. The police raid, which took place in June 2017, uncovered a vast cache of illegal content stored on multiple devices in Forgie’s living room, including two computers and three external hard drives.Authorities acted swiftly after a warrant was obtained following an investigation by Police Scotland’s computer crime unit. Their analysis revealed that Forgie had been actively downloading and accumulating these illicit images and videos over an extended period, spanning from June 2008 to June 2016. The sheer volume of material was staggering, with a total of 2,144 indecent videos depicting children being subjected to abuse, some of which involved the most severe acts of rape and torture.
In addition to the videos, investigators discovered over 198,000 still images that graphically depicted child sexual abuse. Among these, approximately 3,350 images were classified in the most serious category, indicating the extreme nature of the content Forgie had collected. The images and videos included children as young as two years old, highlighting the heinous nature of his crimes.
Stewart Forgie appeared at Stirling Sheriff Court to face charges related to the possession and downloading of child abuse images. He pleaded guilty to the offences, acknowledging his involvement in the illegal activity. The case was brought to light after police raided his home, which was found to contain a “very high number” of illicit images and videos.
During the court proceedings, Procurator Fiscal depute Sarah Lumsden explained that the investigation was initiated after police identified an internet address linked to Forgie’s residence that was being used to access and download child sexual abuse material. The evidence collected pointed to a prolonged period of offending, spanning over eight years.
Following Forgie’s guilty plea, Sheriff Wyllie Robertson ordered that he be placed on the sex offenders’ register. The court also deferred sentencing until July 19 to allow for a comprehensive risk assessment and background report to be prepared. The sheriff issued a stern warning, stating, “Clearly all options, including custody, will be considered,” emphasizing the seriousness of Forgie’s crimes and the potential for a custodial sentence.
