MIRREN KERR FROM GRANGEMOUTH INVOLVED IN FIGHT AT HELIX PARK, FALKIRK
A distressing incident unfolded at Falkirk's Helix Park involving Mirren Kerr, a 24-year-old woman from Coll Place, Grangemouth, who was described as 'inconsolable' after a confrontation with her ex-partner. The altercation took place on November 6, 2023, outside the Helix Café, during a meeting that was supposed to be a routine exchange related to their child.According to court proceedings, Kerr had arranged to meet her former partner, with whom she shares a young daughter, to spend some time with their child. The relationship between Kerr and her ex ended in August 2022 after three years of being together. Since then, they had been embroiled in ongoing disputes concerning child contact arrangements, which appear to have contributed to the heightened tensions during this particular meeting.
Procurator fiscal depute Christa Lindsay provided details of the incident, stating, “The accused attempted to take hold of the pram and remove the complainer’s hand from it. She then lost her temper and assaulted him by hitting him to the back of the head. Staff at the Helix contacted the police.”
During the court hearing, Kerr’s defence solicitor, Simon Hutchison, explained her emotional state at the time, saying, “She saw him with the child in the park and asked if she could push the pram. When he refused, she became inconsolable.”
Despite the seriousness of the incident, Sheriff Alison Michie acknowledged Kerr’s good behaviour since the event and chose to admonish her, which means she was not subjected to any further penalties. The case highlights the intense emotional struggles that can surface during child contact disputes, even in public and family-friendly locations like Falkirk’s Helix Park, where such conflicts can unexpectedly erupt.
