Jamie Laidlaw, who is 18 years old, directed verbal abuse at his partner toward the end of their relationship, which escalated into physical assault when he grabbed her wrist with enough force to embed her bracelet into her skin.
He appeared before Falkirk Sheriff Court last Thursday, where he pleaded guilty to a pattern of abusive conduct towards his partner.
It was explained that Laidlaw is unable to see his child at present, attributed to his drug consumption, and that his former partner left her home due to fears of violence from him.
The prosecutor's deputy provided details of how Laidlaw's relationship with her broke down, noting his increasing controlling behavior, accusations of infidelity, and use of abusive language such as "slag" and "slut." He also threatened to destroy their home.
During the incident, Laidlaw tore down curtains, damaged photographs, and at one point, seized her wrist so tightly that her bracelet became embedded in her skin, leading to an injury.
