POLICE OFFICER SENTENCED TO FOUR YEARS FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT FOLLOWING DISTURBING OFFENSES
A police officer who filmed himself sexually assaulting a woman he believed was asleep has been sentenced to four years in prison.Steven Tissier, aged 38, groped the victim's breast beneath her top after returning to Chelmsford from a night out on March 10, 2022.
The woman pretended to be asleep while Tissier also touched her bottom, leg, and thigh.
He was convicted of two offenses of sexual assault at Chelmsford Crown Court.
The assault occurred after Tissier, who was off duty, and the victim had returned to Chelmsford following a night out in London.
The woman testified that she woke up when Tissier first touched her but chose to pretend to be asleep out of fear, hoping he would stop.
She reported the incident the next day, first to a friend and then to the police.
An investigation uncovered five videos on Tissier's phone showing him assaulting the woman, which he later sent to a friend shortly after she left.
Tissier resigned from Essex Police while under investigation and was later found to have committed gross misconduct.
Chief Constable Ben-Julian Harrington expressed his disgust at the actions and praised the victim's bravery.
Tissier will be on the sex offenders register for life and was permanently banned from policing.
