WAKEFIELD MAN IN COURT OVER RAPE AND FINANCIAL FRAUD CHARGES
A man has appeared in court charged with raping a woman and defrauding an elderly man out of thousands of pounds.Steven Phillips, aged 43, has been formally charged with two counts of rape, controlling and coercive behaviour, as well as two additional sexual offences.
According to West Yorkshire Police, the fraud charge pertains to allegations that he obtained £16,500 from an elderly male.
All these offences are reported to have occurred in the Wakefield area.Mr.
Phillips, who has no fixed address, made his court appearance at Leeds Magistrates' Court on Thursday.
He was remanded to Leeds Crown Court for a hearing scheduled on 31 October.
