PREDATOR WITH 'INTEREST IN CHILDREN' SENT INDECENT IMAGES TO COUNCIL AND NHS WORKERS
A paedophile who admits having a sexual interest in children sent indecent images to an NHS and a council worker.Bond, who has a diagnosis of paranoid schizophrenia, sent the emails from his "Benny Bond" address.
Prosecutor Beth Richardson told Leeds Crown Court on Monday: "Due to information identifying the defendant linked to email addresses uploading indecent images of children to the internet, West Yorkshire Police arrested him on the 11th of May 2022." The court heard officers discovered 1,179 indecent images of children ranging across all three categories, as well as moving images.
The children featured were between the ages of four-years-old to 16-years-old.
His phone's browser user dictionary also showed he had searched for words including "paedophile." Ms Richardson said: "He came to be identified following an investigation into distribution of images.
On the 21st of February 2022, the defendant sent an email to Wakefield Council containing five category A still images and three category B images where the children were between four and eight-years-old." Bond, of Sycamore Court, Wakefield, also sent indecent images to a worker at an NHS Trust.
They did not open the images, but could see they were indecent images of children from the thumbnail and raised the alarm to their IT team and then the police.
When Bond was arrested, he was interviewed three times, the court heard.
In his first and second interview, he answered "no comment" to all questions but in his third present, a pre-prepared statement in which he accepted responsibility for the possession and distribution of the images, but said he had "schizophrenia and was supported by a psychiatrist and community nurses." Ms Richardson said: "At the time, he was on medication but his mental health was not under control." Bond's first victim told the court in a statement read out by the prosecutor: "For four years I carried anger for a trauma caused by a faceless person.
His actions changed my life.
There has not been a single day where it has not affected my life." The comprehensive account details how the defendant's actions affected a victim and led to his arrest, mental health issues, and sentencing.
The sentence handed down was a 16-month prison term, suspended for two years, with additional requirements including 30 rehabilitation activity days.
Bond is also required to register as a sex offender and comply with a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
