WAKEFIELD MAN SEAN LLOYD JAILED FOR ASSAULT ON PARTNER AFTER DRUNKEN RAGE
At 35 years old, Sean Lloyd was convicted of assaulting his partner of six years after they had gone out drinking on August 4 this year.The woman, who appeared in court to testify, described Lloyd as exhibiting a 'Jekyll and Hyde' personality, changing significantly when he drank alcohol.
During the incident, Lloyd entered her residence shouting 'Who is here?', took her phone and threw it against the wall, then pushed a small table at her.
His assault then turned violent as he kicked her in the stomach, struck her in the face, and strangled her during a drunken outburst.
The victim recounted how Lloyd was wearing heavy work boots and she was unsure whether she had been punched or kicked in the chaos.
Prosecutor Jade Bucklow explained that Lloyd had been on top of her, with his hands around her neck, restricting her ability to scream or escape, and squeezing so tightly that she believed she was about to die.
Lloyd reportedly said, 'this time I will do it right,' referring to a previous incident when a neighbor had stepped in during an attempted strangulation.
The woman was able to escape and was later taken to hospital, where she received treatment for injuries such as a cut to her forehead, neck swelling, and ongoing issues with her eye; she also reported nightmares and symptoms of PTSD.
Authorities found blood splatters on Lloyd’s trousers and traces of blood within the house, though Lloyd himself was unharmed physically.
It emerged he had previously received a suspended 14-week sentence for DUI.
Despite this, Lloyd is currently engaged in some form of alcohol rehabilitation and aims to change his behavior.
He pleaded guilty to the charge of assault causing actual bodily harm, expressed remorse, and received a two-year and four-month prison sentence from Leeds Crown Court.
The judge emphasized Lloyd’s violent, controlling tendencies, particularly when intoxicated, and referenced his prior convictions related to alcohol misuse.
The victim conveyed her feelings of heartbreak and hope for Lloyd’s recovery, underscoring how his drinking has affected her repeatedly.
Detective Sergeant Daniel Buttle of West Yorkshire Police commended her bravery and emphasized the police’s ongoing commitment to protecting women from violence.
