2003: BOLTON MAN JAILED FOR SAVAGE ATTACK ON PARTNER

2003: A woman was rendered unconscious and covered in blood following a brutal assault by her partner, a court was informed.

Steven Comber attacked Lynn Cope by strangling her until she lost consciousness and hitting her in the face.

The next day, when Comber noticed Cope's injuries, he inquired about what had occurred.

She accused him of assault, but he claimed she had simply fallen.

Comber, 43 years old and residing at Blackshaw House in Deane, Bolton, was sentenced to 18 months in prison for the assault.

Recorder Stephen Bedford stated that the couple's relationship was characterized by violence.

"On that night, you inflicted serious injuries on your partner after a day of alcohol consumption.

The courts will not tolerate such violence within the home," he said.

Comber had appeared at Bolton Crown Court for sentencing, having pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm to Cope.
