MAN JAILED FOR ASSAULTING WOMAN WEEKS AFTER RELEASE FOR STALKING CONVICTION
A man released from prison only weeks earlier has been jailed again after assaulting the same woman he was convicted of stalking.Lee Mitchell, of no fixed abode but with links to Farnworth and Breightmet, appeared at Bolton Crown Court on April 7, 2026.
The 32-year-old pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
Prosecutor Emily Thorbjornsen described how he accused the woman of calling other men while she was using her mobile phone on October 10, 2025, and then removed clothing from her wardrobe after she told him she was paying household bills.
An altercation ensued, during which Mitchell moved her and puffed out his chest, and they fell to the ground, with Mitchell pinning her causing her to have a panic attack.
He then climbed back into her property through the window when she called police.
The police found her injuries, and Mitchell called 999, making disparaging comments about her.
He was arrested on October 13 and claimed the argument was about bathroom time and alleged that she had pushed him.
He also accused her of self-harm and claimed she hyperventilated to gain control.
The woman initially gave a victim impact statement but withdrew it.
Mitchell has 11 previous convictions for 22 offences and was recently jailed for 16 months for stalking the same woman in August 2024.
The court heard that Mitchell had served the equivalent of a 12-month sentence.
Recorder Peter Wright KC sentenced him to 12 months in prison, emphasizing that continued offending would lead to longer sentences, especially given his recent breach of restraining orders and previous imprisonment.
