MIDDLESBROUGH MAN JAILED FOR SEXUALLY ASSAULTING YOUNG GIRLS
Stephen Nolan, 41, from Brabourn Gardens in Hemlington, Middlesbrough, was convicted by a jury of two counts of sexual assault of a child after standing trial.
He sexually touched two young girls on separate occasions and then walked away immediately afterwards.
One victim disclosed the assault to her mother hours later, prompting police action.
During the court hearing, a victim expressed the impact: "I no longer trust men.
My attendance at school has fallen.
I stay in my room now a lot of the time.
I have nightmares." The second girl stated that the incident has caused her to lose her confidence: "Since what happened, I've struggled to leave the house." Nolan was sentenced to two years in prison, was ordered to refrain from any unsupervised contact with children under 16 through a sexual harm prevention order, and will be registered as a sex offender for the next 10 years.
The judge commented on his denial and the suffering of the victims, emphasizing the unavoidable custodial sentence.
