STEPHEN MORGAN JAILED IN TEESSIDE FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES AFTER CONFRONTATION BY VICTIM

In July 2014, a cowardly sex offender, Stephen Morgan, refused to surrender himself to police after being confronted by his victim.

Morgan, aged 56, initially asked the courageous schoolgirl if she wanted him to go to a police station to confess to his past crimes.

However, when prompted to hand himself in, he panicked and admitted, “I can’t go through with it – I’m too frightened to go to prison.” Subsequently, the schoolgirl reported the abuse to authorities, detailing the years of cruelty she had endured at Morgan’s hands.

Originally from Whinneybanks, Middlesbrough, Morgan was later living in Thornaby, Stockton.

He pleaded guilty to three child sex charges at Teesside Crown Court.

On Thursday, he was sentenced to six years in prison and was ordered to register as a sex offender for life.

Judge John Walford addressed Morgan’s actions, stating that he had left his victim traumatised and wrongly elicited feelings of guilt.

Rachel Ryson, who represented Morgan, acknowledged that he deserved credit for admitting his crimes, especially since he refused to answer police questions initially.

The judge remarked, “Your guilty pleas at the first opportunity spared your victim the ordeal of reliving her experiences in court.

It is to be hoped that, with the outcome of this case today, she will be able to move on and, as best she can, recover from the effects of your behaviour on her.”
