COLNE MAN FINED AND BANNED FOR DRINK DRIVING WITH CHILD IN CAR
A man named Stephen McIlmoyle, aged 34, was caught by police for drink driving while he had a child in his car.The incident occurred when McIlmoyle was taking his son home from a barbecue.
Police stopped him at the request of his former partner, who had called the police because she wanted her child returned.
Although McIlmoyle was not driving badly, he was found to have 71 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, which is more than double the legal limit of 35.
The court heard that McIlmoyle's child was at risk, as well as other road users and pedestrians.
Defense lawyer David Lawson explained that McIlmoyle had a young son and was under an informal contact arrangement with his ex-partner.
The court was told that the incident was unintentional, and McIlmoyle had not expected to drive after attending a barbecue.
He was fined £230, with an additional £60 in costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
Furthermore, he was banned from driving for 20 months.
