OFFENDER FROM COLNE SENTENCED AFTER HEINOUS CHILD ABUSE CRIMES
A 28-year-old man from Colne named Danny Dunne has today been sentenced to nearly 17 years in prison at Preston Crown Court for a series of heinous sexual offences against a child in Pendle between 2009 and 2019.Dunne pleaded guilty earlier this year to multiple crimes, including rape, attempted rape, sexual assault, and inciting a child to engage in sexual activities.
He was confronted by officers, who confirmed his guilt.
The court sentenced him to 10 years and 8 months imprisonment along with an extended licence period of 7 years.
Dunne must also sign the Sex Offenders Register for life and was made the subject of an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
Police authorities paid tribute to the bravery of the victim for coming forward and facing the offender, and reiterated their commitment to seeking justice in such cases.
"The victim is now able to look forward with life and begin the process of seeking closure.
In contrast, Dunne will hopefully reflect on the horrendous crimes he has committed, from within his prison cell," stated DC Dan Healey from the East RASSO team.
