ABUSIVE PARTNER JAILED FOR 'DEGRADING' GIRLFRIEND
AN abusive boyfriend with a history of violence has been jailed after subjecting his girlfriend to 'degrading' domestic abuse.Warrington Crown Court heard how 31-year-old Stephen Clive Rimmer of Crossway, Widnes, would accuse his partner of being unfaithful for 12 months.
He would insist on smelling her crotch to 'see whether she had cheated on him' and control every aspect of her life.
Rimmer was convicted of two counts of assaults—punching her in the nose and attacking her again at the Village Hotel in Warrington with slaps, grabbing her by the throat, and strangulation.
He has nine previous convictions for 13 offences, including assaulting a former girlfriend.
Rimmer was jailed for 12 months as the assaults breached a suspended sentence for a separate violent attack.
The court described his behavior as targeting a vulnerable woman, exploiting her, and degrading her.
The sentencing took place at Warrington Crown Court.
