WIDNES SEX OFFENDER JAILED FOR RAPING A WOMAN AND SMASHING WINDOW
POLICE have slammed the ‘abhorrent’ actions of a rapist after he was locked up.Justin Sheridan forced himself on a woman without her consent and also smashed her window.
The 36-year-old appeared before Liverpool Crown Court recently to be sentenced, having pleaded guilty to charges of rape and criminal damage.
The court heard that the victim had reported to Cheshire Police that a man had smashed her window.
When officers attended to speak to her, she disclosed to them that she had also been raped by the perpetrator.
The defendant was arrested and interviewed by the police, where he admitted committing both incidents.
He was subsequently charged and pleaded guilty to both charges when he appeared in court.
Sheridan, of no fixed address, was sentenced to four years and four months in prison.
Following the hearing, DC Ashley Martin, of Cheshire Police, said: “Sheridan’s behaviour towards the victim was clearly frightening.
To also force himself on her and rape her was an abhorrent act, and he is now paying the price for this behaviour.
Rape is rape – there is no excuse.
