WIDNES MAN CHARGED WITH CHILD SEX OFFENCES AFTER BEING DETAINED BY PUBLIC

A MAN is set to appear in court charged with engaging in sexual communications with a child.

At 8.15pm on Wednesday, police were called to reports of an incident on Lonsdale Close, Widnes.

Officers attended and found a man had been detained by member of the public for allegedly engaging with a child online.

Kieran Williams was arrested at the scene.

The 35-year-old has now been charged with engaging in sexual communications with a child; Causing a child aged 13 to 15 to watch / look at an image of sexual activity; Offender 18 or over attempt to cause a child aged 13 to 15 to watch / look at an image of sexual activity; and Adult attempt to engage in sexual communication with a child.

Williams, of Appleby Walk, Widnes, has been remanded in police custody and is set to appear at Chester Magistrates Court today, Friday.
