A SEX offender has been jailed after giving police a false address.Sonny McDonagh, 28, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to failing to provide officers with his correct address at Saltcoats police station on October 21 last year.
Providing a correct address was part of his notification requirements under the Sexual Offences Act.
After dismissing his lawyer and opting to represent himself at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on January 13, he tried to change his guilty plea.
He said: "Everyone knows I'm not a beast.
I'm not a sex offender.
I don't need to tell the police anything." He also stated: "I'm going to sue the courts and the papers." However, Sheriff Nicola Patrick told him: "You have given me no option but a custodial sentence." McDonagh was subsequently sentenced to four months in prison, with his sentence backdated to October 29.
