PETERHEAD WOMAN ADMITS TO VIOLENT ASSAULT ON HER PARTNER AT MOTOR SHOW
Skylar Stewart, a woman from King Street in Peterhead, appeared at Peterhead Sheriff Court to admit to a single charge of assault against her partner. The incident occurred on June 29 this year at Aden Country Park following the North East Motor Show.
The court heard that Stewart's anger was triggered because she was not given her bus pass to return home.
Fiscal depute Claire Stewart reported that both Stewart, aged 36, and her partner had been in a relationship for about three years.
Around 5:40 pm, police were called after hearing the pair arguing.
The call handler could hear Stewart following her partner and taking hold of his head, accusing him of being at fault.
She punched him on the face and bit his cheek, then pushed him causing him to fall.
She also grabbed his arm, digging her nails in and causing it to bleed before he left and reported the incident.
The court was informed that Stewart’s boyfriend was not in favor of a non-harassment order which would have prohibited contact.
Stewart’s defense lawyer, Marianne Milligan, expressed that her client was “really sorry” and that both were drinking at the time.
Stewart, who claims to have little memory of the event, accepted full responsibility and stated she was acting out of character.
The judge, Sheriff Alan Sinclair, deferred sentence for six months to allow her to demonstrate good behavior, noting that the conduct was "quite concerning." Stewart is set to be sentenced in February next year, and she and her partner are still together.
