PETERHEAD WOMAN CONVICTED FOR ATTACKING HER FATHER IN HIS WORKSHOP
A Peterhead woman attacked her own father inside his workplace after she could not get him or his employees to change her car number plates.Claire Mackie, aged 46 and residing on James Stott Road, turned abusive towards the workers at Bill Mackie Engineering before becoming violent when her dad tried to calm the situation.
The court heard that on March 17, this year, Mackie went into her dad’s workshop and demanded staff change her car's registration plates.
When the staff were busy, she stated she would do it herself.
About half an hour later, an employee reported that Mackie was shouting and swearing at employees inside the workshop.
Her father asked her not to disturb his staff, but she responded with more swearing and threats to 'sack them all.' When her father attempted to leave, she pushed him through the door and began grabbing and punching him while shouting and swearing.

Mackie, whose behavior was linked to mental health issues, initially faced a trial for repeatedly punching her father and for threatening behavior but pled guilty on the day of her trial.
Her solicitor argued her behavior might be related to her mental health and suggested she would benefit from working with social workers.
The court decided to defer her sentencing for six months to allow her to address her issues, with a report to be reviewed at that time and the possibility of a structured intervention aimed at preventing future offending.
