SIMON ANGUISH FROM BURTON SENTENCED FOR MAKING OVER 300 CHILD INDECENT IMAGES AND ATTEMPTING TO INCITE SEXUAL ACTIVITY
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Burton, Simon Anguish, a 47-year-old resident of Oak Street, has been convicted and sentenced for a series of serious offences involving child exploitation and indecency. The case came to light after Anguish admitted to creating and distributing a significant number of indecent images of children, with the total exceeding 300 photographs and videos.
These offences were committed over a period spanning several years, with the earliest charges relating to images stored on his electronic devices, including an iPhone and a laptop computer.
The images included both still photographs and moving footage, with a disturbing distribution of categories indicating the severity of the content.
Specifically, the court was informed that Anguish possessed 143 images classified as Category A, the most serious, along with 58 images in Category B and 216 in Category C.
His criminal activities extended beyond mere possession.
Anguish also admitted to the creation and dissemination of these indecent images, which he stored on his personal devices.
The court heard that these images depicted children in various states of sexual exploitation, a fact that compounded the severity of his crimes.
Furthermore, Anguish's criminal record includes an attempt to incite a minor to engage in sexual activity.
Specifically, he pleaded guilty to attempting to persuade a 12-year-old girl to participate in sexual acts between January 5 and January 27 of the previous year.
This attempt was made through online communication, and the court was told that the girl was only 12 years old at the time.
In addition to these charges, Anguish admitted to creating and distributing five indecent images of children on July 9, 2016, in Burton.
These images included three in the most serious Category A, one in Category B, and one in Category C.
The offences also involved three separate charges of making indecent photographs of children, committed between September 2011 and January of the following year.
Anguish appeared before Stafford Crown Court for sentencing, where he pleaded guilty to all charges.
The court sentenced him to 27 months in prison.
Additionally, he was ordered to sign the sex offenders register for a period of 10 years and was subjected to a sexual harm prevention order for the same duration.
The judge emphasized the gravity of his offences and the need for strict supervision to protect the community from further harm.
During the proceedings, the court was informed that sentencing was initially adjourned until August 10 to allow for reports to be prepared.
Anguish was granted bail until that date, pending the final sentencing decision.
The case has left many residents of Burton deeply concerned about the safety of children and the importance of ongoing vigilance against such heinous crimes.
