BURTON RAPIST WHO ATTACKED SCHOOLGIRLS FAILED TO TELL NEW GIRLFRIEND ABOUT VILE PAST
A man known as David Gershon, who has a criminal conviction for serious sexual offenses, received an eight-month prison sentence after concealing his past from his new partner while staying in her home with her underage daughter in Burton.Gershon, 40 years old, previously served a six-year term for crimes committed in 2005, including two counts of rape, two charges of sexual activity with a minor, and possession of indecent images of children.
His criminal history includes luring two teenage girls to his caravan at a holiday site in Somerset, where he assaulted them; he was convicted at Taunton Crown Court, sentenced to 12 years in absentia, and later served six years before moving to Burton.
In 2022, Gershon entered into a relationship via a dating app with a mother, omitting any mention of his criminal record or previous registration as a sex offender.
Law enforcement monitoring indicated that he used an IP address linked to the woman's residence and stayed there for more than a week.
His past was only uncovered when police disclosed his criminal record.
During sentencing, the judge condemned his deceitful behavior, highlighting that Gershon intentionally hid his history from the woman and her daughter.
The woman expressed her distress and relief that her daughter was not left alone with him once she learned of his background.
Gershon's legal team argued that he now faces health issues but claimed he has adhered to prior restrictions.
The court ruled that his dishonesty deprived his girlfriend of the chance to be fully informed about his past.
The police opted not to publish his mugshot, given his sentence was under 12 months.
