This interaction was part of an operation conducted by a paedophile hunting team known as 'Wasp,' which specializes in posing as children online to catch predators attempting to exploit minors.
According to court records, Harty sent a series of explicit and sexual messages to what he thought was a young child.
However, it was later revealed that the profile he contacted was not that of a child but was instead created by an adult member of the 'Wasp' team.
These volunteers dedicate their time to protecting children by luring predators into traps, and in this case, they confronted Harty with the evidence of his online misconduct.
During the confrontation, Harty dismissed the severity of his actions, claiming, 'It's only grooming.' His response was met with the intervention of police, who promptly arrested him following the evidence presented by the 'Wasp' team.
The case was brought before Bournemouth Crown Court, where Harty appeared to face charges related to online sexual offences.
The court proceedings resulted in a relatively lenient sentence considering the nature of the offences.
