CHRISTCHURCH MAN JAILED FOR RAPING WOMAN AFTER DATING APP ENCOUNTER
A man identified as Emmanuel Maleh Mukum, aged 28 and residing on Lymington Road in Christchurch, was convicted of raping a woman he met on a dating app.The incident occurred after they went out on a date in March 2024, and the woman felt pressured by Mukum to have unprotected sex.
Despite her insistence on using a condom, Mukum begged for sex when shops were closed and later assaulted her.
The victim described feeling suicidal after the attack, stating, 'Emmanuel this singular act from your desire to always have power has left me completely broken.' During the trial at Bournemouth Crown Court, Mukum was found guilty of rape by a jury and sentenced to five years in prison by Recorder Nicholas Haggan KC.
The court also noted that Mukum’s immigration status was uncertain due to the loss of his employment.
Detective Staff Investigator Dean Smith highlighted the bravery of the victim in coming forward and emphasized the seriousness with which sexual offences are treated, encouraging other victims to report crimes.
