DARREN MARSH SENTENCED IN CHRISTCHURCH FOR CHILD RAPE IN NEW MILTON
A man from Christchurch, Darren Marsh, has been sentenced to five years in prison after being found guilty of raping and sexually assaulting a young child.The offences took place in New Milton last April, where Marsh, aged 22 and residing on The Strete in Christchurch, committed these heinous acts against a child under the age of 13.
Marsh appeared before Southampton Crown Court on Friday, where he pleaded guilty to charges of rape and two counts of sexual assault.
His guilty plea came prior to sentencing, which resulted in a five-year prison term.
In addition to his incarceration, Marsh will be subject to a 12-month extended period on licence following his release, ensuring close monitoring of his activities.
Furthermore, he has been ordered to sign the sex offenders register for life and is explicitly banned from making any contact with the victim.
Following the sentencing, Detective Constable Dawn Capper, a member of the child abuse investigation team, expressed her relief and satisfaction with the outcome.
She stated, "I am so pleased for the young victim that justice has now been served for them and their family, and that Marsh has now been placed behind bars, where he belongs." She continued, "While I know this result won't erase the memories of what Marsh did, I truly hope it allows the victim and their family to begin to move forward, knowing that he can no longer harm any other children." Detective Capper also emphasized the importance of encouraging other victims to come forward.
She said, "I also hope this sentence will reassure other victims that they will be listened to when reporting similar incidents.
We take allegations of this nature extremely seriously and work hard to bring offenders to justice." Her message was clear: law enforcement agencies are committed to tirelessly pursuing offenders and ensuring they are held accountable.
