HALIFAX MAN SHAZAD NAZIR JAILED FOR CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE
In Calderdale, 20 men have been given a combined prison term exceeding 200 years following a detailed investigation into historical child sexual abuse.The defendants were collectively sentenced to 219 years after being convicted of crimes involving the rape and assault of young girls.
The offenses, which spanned several years, involved multiple victims aged 12 to 16.
Court orders that were meant to protect the integrity of the trial have now been lifted.
One defendant, Shazad Nazir, 49, of Halifax, received an 11-year sentence after being found guilty of multiple acts of rape.
His crimes took place between 2006 and 2009 and were part of a wider investigation into child exploitation within the community.
Police and prosecutors emphasized the importance of victims’ bravery and the need for reporting historical abuse, noting that specialized officers handle such cases.
