SHAUN MCKIE FROM STRANRAER SENTENCED FOR ABUSE OF TWO YOUNG SISTERS IN HIS HOME
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Stranraer, Shaun McKie, aged 32, was sentenced to two and a half years in prison for the sexual abuse of two young sisters.The heinous acts took place within the confines of a residence on Ashwood Drive, where McKie was residing as the partner of the girls' mother at the time of the incidents.
The abuse was uncovered after the two girls, aged eleven and nine, confided in their mother shortly after the assault.
The mother, who was watching television at the time, was alerted when she overheard one of her daughters telling McKie that “Mummy will get me into trouble” while he was helping them prepare for bed.
This statement prompted her to investigate further.
She proceeded to the bedroom, where she saw McKie sitting on the bed with one of the girls.
Although she initially saw nothing suspicious, her maternal instincts told her that something was amiss based on her daughter's expression.
Concerned, she called the girls into the living room, where they revealed the disturbing details of what had transpired.
The older girl disclosed that McKie had taken explicit photographs of her, and the younger sister, who had earlier managed to escape to the bathroom after McKie shifted his attention from her to her sister, also confided in her mother upon emerging.
The mother’s suspicions were confirmed when she discovered photographs of the girls on McKie’s phone.
Following the confrontation, McKie began apologizing repeatedly but was promptly ejected from the house.
The police were called, and DNA evidence from one of the girls matched McKie, solidifying the case against him.
He admitted to taking indecent photographs of one of the girls between March 23rd, 2006, and September 9th, 2007, as well as sexually abusing both sisters during the incident.
McKie’s criminal actions have led to his placement on the Sex Offender’s Register for an indefinite period, and authorities have announced that he will be subject to ongoing monitoring upon his release from prison.
