STRANRAER MAN CONVICTED OF SEX ASSAULT ON CHILD AND POLICE OFFICER
A 45-year-old Stranraer man has been convicted of sexually assaulting a child before later targeting a female police officer on the same day.Isaac Dargie, of Craiglea Avenue, Stranraer, denied the allegations but was found guilty after a trial at Stranraer Sheriff Court.
The court heard that on March 6 last year Dargie seized a young girl by the body, pulled her towards him and held onto her before kissing her on the head.
Later that same day, his behaviour continued inside Stranraer Police Station.
Dargie made remarks about the appearance of a female police officer before grabbing either side of her head and attempting to kiss her.
Sheriff Sutherland found him guilty of sexually assaulting both the child and the police officer.
The sheriff ordered that Dargie be made subject to a Sexual Notification Requirement, meaning he must register as a sex offender for a period of 1 year.
He was also placed on a two-year non-harassment order and handed a Community Payback Order covering both offences with 150 hours of unpaid work.
