SHAUN FREEMAN FROM ROCHDALE JAILED FOR RAPE AND ABUSE OF TEENAGE GIRL
In a case that has shocked the community of Rochdale, Shaun Freeman, aged 56, of Great Howarth, has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term after being found guilty of multiple serious crimes involving a young woman. The sentencing took place at Minshull Street Crown Court, where Freeman received a 13-year prison sentence following a comprehensive trial.
During the proceedings, the jury convicted Freeman on four counts of rape, three counts of engaging in sexual activity with a minor, one count of supplying Class B drugs, and one count of assault.
The court heard harrowing details about the victim, who was only 14 years old when Freeman first began to introduce her to illegal substances.
By the time she was 15, Freeman had started making sexual advances towards her, escalating the abuse over several years.
It was revealed that Freeman frequently supplied the young girl with drugs, including amphetamines, which he used to manipulate and control her.
The abuse was not limited to sexual assault; Freeman also subjected her to violent physical attacks.
On one particularly brutal incident, he accused her of being with another man and responded by repeatedly beating her with a hammer.
The victim endured these ordeals in Freeman’s bedroom, often under the influence of the drugs he administered.
After years of suffering in silence, the victim managed to escape from Freeman’s grasp in 2014.
Demonstrating remarkable courage, she subsequently reported the abuse to the police, leading to Freeman’s arrest and subsequent trial.
His conviction and sentencing mark a significant moment in the ongoing fight against abuse and exploitation within the Rochdale community.
