CRUEL SCOTS COUPLE BATTERED AND STARVED THEIR THREE DAUGHTERS IN 21-YEAR REIGN OF TERROR
A couple have been jailed for relentlessly assaulting and neglecting their daughters in a 21-year-long “reign of terror”.
The evil pair, Sharon and Charles Hughes, starved and beat their children, who are now adults.
They prevented two of them from washing during their campaign of abuse.
Charles, 53, would repeatedly hit one daughter with a belt and strangled the youngest.
Sharon, 48, dug her long nails into their skin.
Both denied mistreating the girls but were convicted last month of six charges each—one of assault and one of neglect for each girl.
Sharon was jailed for four years, with her sentence backdated to her remand last month.
Sheriff Gillian Craig described the abuse as so regular and prolific that only a custodial sentence was appropriate, noting she was the primary instigator.
Charles was sentenced to three years and showed no emotion during sentencing.
Both were banned from contacting their children for 10 years under a Non-Harassment Order.
