MIDDLESBROUGH WOMAN JAILED FOR CHILD ABUSE AND SENDING ABUSIVE IMAGES
A paedophile named Shannon Donachie, from Middlesbrough, was sentenced after she sent a disturbing photo of herself abusing a child in an attempt to seek attention online. The court heard that Donachie, aged 24, was actively chatting with a man online about sexually abusing children.
When the man began to ignore her, she responded by sending him a vile image of herself involved in child sexual abuse.
Prosecutor Shaun Dodds stated: "He went silent on her and she craved his attention.
She sent a photograph of her doing so." The court revealed that Donachie had pleaded guilty to charges of assaulting a child by penetration and making an indecent photograph of a child.
The police arrested her following the incident, and she was sentenced at Teesside Crown Court.
She received an extended five-year sentence, consisting of four years in prison and one year on license.
Donachie expressed remorse, with her lawyer stating she "understands she must be punished" and was "truly remorseful." Judge Tim Stead commented that Donachie engaged in unhealthy online conversations, driven by a desire to maintain social contact, which led her to do things she otherwise would not have.
The court emphasized that her moral failure was also a criminal one, and despite her lack of previous convictions, she was held accountable for her actions.
