SHAMOL MIAH AND HIS HORRIFIC CRIME IN MANFIELD

A serious criminal case has culminated in the imprisonment of Shamol Miah, 33, following his involvement in the sexual assault of an 11-year-old girl in Mansfield. Miah was sentenced to a lengthy eight-year term behind bars after he pleaded guilty in court to the charge of raping a child under the age of 13.

The incident, which occurred in May last year, involved Miah approaching his young victim in Mansfield town centre. According to reports presented in court, Miah and the girl exchanged mobile phone numbers after their initial encounter. The conversation then continued later that evening, during which Miah arranged to pick her up from her residence at approximately 4 a.m. The court was informed that Miah picked the young girl up in his car and drove her to a secluded area, where he proceeded to commit the sexual assault. After the assault, he drove her back into Mansfield town, leaving her at her home.

The girl's family and witnesses reported the matter to the police at the time. Initially, the offender was only identified by the alias “Adam,” and no immediate arrest was made. It was only through detailed investigations, including the analysis of CCTV footage and DNA evidence, that authorities were able to identify the culprit as Shamol Miah. Thanks to these investigative efforts, Miah was later apprehended and charged.

In addition to the prison sentence, Nottingham Crown Court imposed a ten-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order on Miah. Furthermore, he was placed on the Sex Offender Register for life, marking ongoing restrictions aimed at protecting the public from further harm.

Detective Inspector Jamie Hill, speaking on behalf of Nottinghamshire Police, expressed relief and satisfaction with the outcome of the case. Hill stated, “Miah preyed on a very young and vulnerable girl, and we are glad that he has been given a considerable prison sentence.” He also highlighted the dedicated work of the officers involved in the case, from the initial response to investigative and digital teams that helped secure the evidence needed for conviction.

Ultimately, Detective Hill emphasized the importance of community cooperation in such cases, thanking not only the officers but also the victim and her family for their courage and cooperation throughout the legal process.
