SEAN PATRICK FROM PAISLEY JAILED FOR SEVEN YEARS FOR RAPE AND SEXUAL ABUSE IN GLASGOW AND JOHNSTONE
In a case that has sent shockwaves through the local community, Sean Patrick, a 30-year-old man from Paisley, has been sentenced to seven years in prison following his conviction for a serious sexual assault that took place in May 2016.The incident occurred on Candren Road in Paisley, where Patrick, working as a leisure centre attendant in Renfrewshire, forcibly abducted a woman and subjected her to a brutal rape inside his vehicle.
During the proceedings at the High Court in Glasgow, Judge Lord Harrower emphasized the gravity of Patrick’s crimes, stating that the nature of the offences warranted a significant custodial sentence.
In addition to his prison term, Patrick was also ordered to be placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register, reflecting the severity of his actions and the ongoing risk he poses to the community.
The court heard that Patrick’s criminal conduct extended beyond the single incident.
Between June 2013 and August 2018, he sexually abused a total of seven women at various locations in Paisley and Johnstone.
These offences included a range of disturbing acts, from unwanted physical contact to more invasive sexual assaults.
One of the most distressing episodes involved Patrick sending explicit messages to his victims.
Between July and August 2016, he sent sexually explicit comments to the woman he had raped, seemingly with the intent of either seeking further sexual gratification or humiliating and distressing her.
The court also revealed that Patrick had sent photographs of a penis to five of his victims, further demonstrating his pattern of predatory behaviour.
In addition to the messaging, Patrick engaged in physical sexual abuse.
He placed a vacuum cleaner nozzle against one woman’s buttocks and, on another occasion, touched a different woman’s private areas with his hand.
Other victims reported that he touched their breasts and pulled at their underwear, actions that caused significant emotional and physical trauma.
Furthermore, Patrick was convicted of unlawfully detaining a woman against her will at an address in Johnstone in June 2013.
During this incident, he touched her breasts and seized her buttocks without consent, adding to the list of his disturbing offences.
Despite the overwhelming evidence and the court’s findings, Patrick maintained his innocence, denying all charges brought against him.
Judge Lord Harrower’s sentencing reflects the seriousness of Patrick’s crimes, and the court’s decision underscores the importance of protecting victims from such predatory behaviour.
