SCOTT GREEN FROM DUNDEE CITY SENTENCED FOR HORRIFIC ABUSE AND ASSAULTS IN DUNDEE AND FIFE

A man named Scott Green, aged 29, has been sentenced to prison after a series of brutal and disturbing assaults that spanned several years across Dundee City and Fife. His actions included a range of violent and degrading acts against four victims, with the crimes occurring between 2013 and 2021, highlighting a prolonged campaign of terror and abuse.

Green's heinous conduct began with an incident at Townhill Loch in Dunfermline, where he targeted a male victim. During this attack, he repeatedly punched the man on the head, issued threats to kill, and strangled him, actions that placed the victim’s life in immediate danger. The severity of this assault was compounded by Green’s threatening behavior, which left the victim in a state of fear and distress.

In a separate incident in Dundee in November 2015, Green subjected a woman to physical violence that was both shocking and severe. According to her testimony, Green struck her head against a door frame and then grabbed her neck, restricting her breathing. The victim, who is 34 years old, recounted to prosecutor Gavin Dewar that she experienced a panic attack during the assault, with blood coming from her nose and throat. Green also threatened to kill her and spat on her face, further demonstrating his violent and threatening demeanor.

One of the most disturbing episodes involved Green attempting to force a woman he met in Perth to drink water from a toilet bowl at a house in Dundee. He also forced her to stand naked in a cupboard before sexually assaulting her. Green denied these allegations, claiming there was no violence involved and questioning why she would accuse him of forcing her to act like a dog. During the trial, Green stated that he had punched the woman only in self-defense when she started hitting him, claiming she dislocated his shoulder in the process and that he was in significant pain. He also falsely claimed he had never been near her pet dog, despite evidence to the contrary.

Following these incidents, police launched an investigation into Green’s activities. He was subsequently arrested and remanded in custody. Green’s background includes a previous prison sentence, which was brought up during the court proceedings. His defense advocate, Tony Lenehan KC, indicated that further background reports would be necessary before any mitigation could be considered, leading to a decision to defer sentencing and keep Green in custody.

At the High Court in Edinburgh, Green faced a total of 14 charges, including sexual assault, physical abuse, breach of the peace, drug possession, and breach of bail. Despite denying all allegations, the court found him guilty of all charges last week. The judge, Tom Hughes, expressed serious concern over the nature of Green’s offenses, emphasizing the impact on his victims. He paid tribute to those who had come forward to give evidence, acknowledging the courage it took to testify in such difficult circumstances. The judge also offered some reassurance to the victims, hoping they could begin to move past the trauma inflicted upon them by Green’s actions.
