A twisted paedophile has been warned a jail sentence is 'almost inevitable' after admitting to sending vile sexual messages and arranging to meet an 11-year-old girl.

Barr sent a catalogue of sexual messages to the youngster between April 2, 2023 and April 27, 2023, on WhatsApp and Snapchat.

He asked the girl to send pictures of herself, told her he was masturbating, and called her 'gorgeous.' He attempted to arrange a meeting with the girl for unlawful sexual activity.

The court heard Barr, who was living in Newmilns, East Ayrshire at the time, then sent explicit messages describing sexual intentions and revealing personal details.

Barr was arrested on May 18, 2023, at Cathcart police station, later cautioned and charged, and is now awaiting sentencing, with a possible custodial sentence.

He was placed on the sex offender’s register and remanded in custody.

The sentence is pending reports, but the judge indicated a jail term is almost inevitable.
