TUNBRIDGE WELLS SEX OFFENDER JAILED FOR HIDING CHILD ABUSE IMAGES ON IPAD
A sex offender from Tunbridge Wells who repeatedly violated a court order by hiding an iPad containing child abuse images has been sentenced to jail.Samuel Teubler was legally obliged to register all devices he owned with authorities and to make them available for inspection upon request.
This requirement was part of a 10-year sexual harm prevention order (SHPO) imposed by Maidstone Crown Court following his conviction in October 2022 for making indecent photographs of children and possessing extreme pornography.
Despite this, Teubler breached the restrictions multiple times in 2023 and 2024, although he was spared jail on those occasions.
More recently, in June of this year, police became suspicious of him trying to hide his face while attempting to conceal an iPad Air in his rucksack during a police patrol.
They initially detained him for a drugs search, but subsequent checks revealed he was a convicted sex offender and that the device was not disclosed during previous inspections.
The police found 13 child abuse images on the iPad’s camera roll, including images of a five-year-old girl’s bare genitalia and a naked 10-year-old boy.
Teubler admitted to three breaches of his SHPO and making indecent images, as well as breaching two suspended sentences from previous convictions.
The court noted that his latest offenses were 'substantially aggravated' by his prior convictions, and he was sentenced to two and a half years in prison.
While his SHPO will remain in effect for 10 years upon release, his sex offender notification requirements are now indefinite.
Judge Oliver Saxby KC emphasized that Teubler’s recent behavior was unacceptable, especially given his history and breaches.
