‘PARANOID’ MAN CAUGHT ON CCTV IN EX-GIRLFRIEND’S BEDROOM
A “paranoid” man who split with his partner and ignored a court order banning him from her bedroom has narrowly avoided jail.
Nicholas Da Silva Lima had been in a relationship with the woman for almost 25 years when they split in April 2024 because of his alcohol and substance abuse.
The 53-year-old continued to live with the woman but they slept in separate bedrooms.
He bombarded her with messages demanding to know what she was doing, which led her to apply for a non-molestation order in October last year, banning him from entering her bedroom.
Footage from a CCTV camera installed in her room caught him in there twice, on November 11 and November 16, showing him entering and removing clothing while on his mobile phone.
He pleaded guilty at Medway Magistrates’ Court to two counts of breach of the non-molestation order.
The court was told that the order was made due to his paranoia and harassment after he went to Greece in September, sent her 46 messages, and about 600 WhatsApp video calls.
Despite living in the same house, he was not allowed in her bedroom, yet the CCTV footage captured him entering it twice, with footage showing him walking around the room without looking where he was going.
He was sentenced at Croydon Magistrates’ Court on December 19 to eight weeks in jail, which was suspended for 12 months.
A restraining order was also issued to protect the victim.
