OFFENDER JAILED FOR VIOLENT RESTRAINING ORDER BREACH IN PONTYPOOL
An offender named Samuel McIlveen turned up at his ex-partner's residence and issued threatening words, stating: "Let me f****** in...I am going to get you." He violated a restraining order that had been imposed after he had previously assaulted her.
Samuel McIlveen, aged 32, had a prior conviction for assault causing actual bodily harm against his former partner last year.
Despite being subject to a 10-year restraining order, he visited the victim's flat in Pontypool around 10 p.m.
on August 31.
During the incident, the victim observed him throwing a branch at her window, and upon investigation, she saw him.
He shouted through her door, "Let me f****** in," and attempted to open the communal door by ringing doorbells of other flats.
At the Newport Crown Court, prosecutor Aliyah Hussain described how McIlveen shouted through the letter box, "I'm going to get you," prompting the victim to call the police.
When officers arrived, McIlveen appeared intoxicated and told them, "I think I made a mistake when I was drunk by going to my ex's house." He was found guilty of breaching a restraining order and harassment.
The court noted he has a total of 17 previous convictions.
The victim expressed ongoing fear and anxiety, stating that she has been unable to sleep, constantly checks her security cameras, and is walking on eggshells due to the incident.
Judge Daniel Williams sentenced McIlveen to 18 months in prison and imposed a 10-year restraining order.
