TEESSIDE MAN JAILED FOR BRUTAL ASSAULT ON EX-GIRLFRIEND
This young male, identified as Sam Cannell, was sentenced at Teesside Crown Court for a brutal assault on his ex-girlfriend.The court was told that he 'giggled' before stamping on his former partner so forcefully that he left a footprint on her body.
He had previously been in a relationship characterized by jealousy and coercive behaviour.
Cannell pleaded guilty to charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and theft of a mobile phone, during the period of May 2022 to June 2024.
The court heard how he punched her in the face, head, and back, and dragged her through the garden by her hair after luring her to his house following their split.
During the attack, he assaulted her while she was helpless on the ground, kicking her and stamping on her, which caused a footprint to be left on her body.
His actions were described as 'one of the most despicable things someone could do to another person' by the judge.
The sentence handed down was 32 months in prison, reflecting the severity of his crimes.
