SALIM FATEHI FROM HALIFAX AND MADELEY JAILED FOR CHILD PORNOGRAPHY OFFENSES
In January 2012, Salim Fatehi, a 27-year-old man from Halifax, was sentenced to a year in prison after being convicted of possessing indecent images of children.The case was heard at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court, where a jury found Fatehi guilty following a thorough trial process.
The court was informed that Fatehi had been found in possession of a total of 88 images depicting child pornography.
These images were discovered at his residence in Madeley in 2009.
Among these images, 35 were classified as level one, indicating the least severe category, while one image was categorized at level five, the most serious level of child exploitation content.
Judge Granville Styler addressed the court, highlighting the aggravating circumstances of the case.
He pointed out that Fatehi attempted to shift blame onto his partner during the trial, claiming she was responsible for the images.
Additionally, the court noted that the images had been accessed on a computer used by an eight-year-old child, raising concerns about the potential risk to minors and the environment in which the images were viewed.
During the proceedings, Soheil Khan, representing Fatehi, argued in his defense, stating, “He isn’t someone that has shown these images to others.
There are people that speak well of him.” Despite this, Judge Styler emphasized the seriousness of the offense, disqualifying Fatehi from working with children and ordering him to register as a sex offender for the next ten years.
Fatehi, whose address is listed as Clay Street, Halifax, was given credit for the 72 days he had already spent in custody.
The judge indicated that Fatehi is likely to serve no more than half of his prison sentence before being eligible for release, considering the standard sentencing guidelines and his prior detention.
