WATFORD MAN, 60, JAILED FOR SEX CRIMES AGAINST A CHILD
A 60-year-old man from Watford has received a prison term of seven and a half years after being convicted of multiple historical sexual offences committed against a teenage girl in 2011.The conviction followed a trial at St Albans Crown Court, where Sabaratnam Arulsikamani, of Water Lane, was found guilty of three counts of engaging in sexual activities with a minor.
Additionally, he will be registered on the Sex Offenders’ Register for life.
Detective Sergeant Marc Willmore, part of the local child abuse investigation team, commented: “My team handles cases of child abuse that are often not reported when they occur, for various reasons.
This investigation, along with the court’s verdict, demonstrates that regardless of how long ago the offence happened or the circumstances involved, such allegations are taken seriously and investigated carefully.” The case serves as a reminder that victims are encouraged to come forward, as police units have specialists ready to offer support and advice.
Authorities urge anyone with concerns or victims of abuse, or those who suspect a child is being harmed, to contact them immediately through their website or by calling non-emergency number 101.
