MAN CONVICTED AFTER “CAMPAIGN OF TERROR” AGAINST FORMER PARTNER
A man who subjected his former partner to years of abuse, violence, coercive control and sexual offending has been convicted at the High Court in Stirling.Ryan Robert Alexander Warden was found guilty following a trial which heard disturbing details of a sustained pattern of domestic abuse carried out between March 2022 and April 2026 across Perthshire and other parts of Scotland.
The court heard Warden repeatedly shouted and swore at his former partner, accused her of infidelity, controlled her clothing choices and constantly demanded to know where she was and who she was with.
Jurors also heard how the abuse escalated into violence on several occasions.
One charge stated that Warden seized the woman by the face, covered her mouth and restricted her breathing to the danger of her life during an incident in June 2024 at Firbank Road in Perth.
Another incident in July 2024 at Kingswell Terrace allegedly saw him punch kitchen cupboards, push the woman against her daughter and chase her into the street during an argument.
The High Court also heard evidence that Warden secretly recorded intimate footage of the woman without her consent and later sexually assaulted her during another incident in Perth.
Prosecutors said he further isolated and controlled the victim by forcing her to delete social media applications, destroy her own mobile phone and submit to a lie detector test.
After criminal proceedings began, Warden was also found guilty of repeatedly contacting the woman in an attempt to pressure her into withdrawing support for the prosecution and avoiding court appearances.
The offences were prosecuted under the Domestic Abuse (Scotland) Act 2018, with the court finding the crimes aggravated by involving abuse against a partner or ex-partner.
Following the conviction, authorities confirmed Warden has now been placed on the Sex Offenders Register.
Sentence has been deferred until 22 June 2026 at the Judiciary Buildings in Glasgow for the preparation of risk assessment and criminal justice social work reports.
Warden has been remanded in custody meantime.
