LEICESTERSHIRE POLICE OFFICER CAUGHT IN CHILD SEX ABUSE SCANDAL
A Leicestershire police officer has admitted to sexually abusing a young girl.Ryan Freestone, aged 24, was sentenced to a 12-month community order at Leicester Crown Court yesterday.
He pleaded guilty to three counts of sexual assault on a girl under 13, causing her to engage in sexual activity, and inciting her to engage in sexual activity.
The offenses reportedly occurred between 2006 and 2011, before he joined the police force covering Market Harborough.
Following the report from the victim, Leicestershire Police suspended Freestone on September 25.
He currently remains suspended pending a misconduct hearing scheduled for a later date.
Additionally, Freestone has been placed on the sex offenders register for five years and is subject to a residency restriction for three months.
Superintendent Martyn Ball from the force’s professional standards department stated: “The conduct and integrity of our officers is paramount and we will take the appropriate action against those who commit offences or breach the expected standards of the force.”
