MAN JAILED FOR BREACHING SEXUAL HARM PREVENTION ORDER
Nigel Clapton, a man who received a 12-month suspended prison sentence last July for inciting or causing a child to engage in sexual activity, has now been sentenced to 22 months in jail following an encounter with online paedophile hunters in Market Harborough.
He was discovered to have violated the terms of his ten-year sexual harm prevention order.
This order was put in place after Clapton admitted to five breaches, including possessing a mobile phone without notifying authorities, creating a social media profile under a false name, neglecting to follow directives to retain internet activity records, and deleting his search history.
His arrest was the result of an online sting operation carried out by the Children's Innocence Matters group, which prompted them to notify Leicestershire Police.
The 46-year-old, officially residing in Market Harborough and more recently in Market Hill, Rothwell, was convicted of breaching the order’s conditions, which are designed to restrict contact with children and access to illegal materials.
