Ebbw Vale Man Sentenced to 30 Months for Child Image Offenses

EBBW VALE MAN SENTENCED TO 30 MONTHS FOR CHILD IMAGE OFFENSES

Ross Hughes, a man from Ebbw Vale, has been sentenced to 30 months in prison after he pleaded guilty to multiple charges related to child indecency.

Over a period of 16 years, he accumulated a total of 15,155 indecent images of children, spanning all severity levels.

He appeared at Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court and was convicted on three counts of distributing indecent images of children and three counts of making such images.

Detective Chief Inspector Matthew Edwards emphasized that accessing, downloading, and distributing child abuse images is a severe crime with real victims behind the images.

He stated, 'Accessing, downloading and distributing indecent images of children is not a victimless crime.

Perpetrators often don’t think of the impact that these images have on children once published or the abuse that takes place behind the scenes.

I hope that today’s sentence acts as a deterrent for others.' Hughes was also handed a 10-year sexual harm prevention order.

The court's outcome aims to serve as both punishment and a warning to potential offenders.
