EBBW VALE MAN ROCCI MALANTI JAILED FOR CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE AND GROOMING
A 51-year-old man, Rocci Malanti, has been convicted of sexually abusing two young girls after grooming and exploiting them over multiple occasions when they were under the age of 16.One of the victims described his abuse as "easy as having a cup of tea" because she had been "programmed to think like that," highlighting the manipulative nature of his actions.
Malanti exhibited a "dark side" and took advantage of the children, exploiting their trust by buying them alcohol, cigarettes, and giving them rides—methods used to gain their trust before committing offences.
The first victim recounts how Malanti performed oral sex, vaginal sex, and masturbated in her presence, stating she pretended to be asleep because she was "too scared to say no" and that the acts hurt her.
She also described how she felt conditioned to think these acts were normal, leading to profound psychological effects, including feelings of shame, dirtiness, and confusion, as expressed in her victim statement.
The second victim reported that Malanti had sex with her as she held a pillow over her face because she did not want to see what was happening.
She described this as her first sexual experience and said she did not like it.
She also revealed that Malanti had masturbated in front of her and that he had "stolen her virginity" at a young age, taking her innocence.
Both victims bravely addressed their abuser in court, and their statements reflected significant trauma and long-lasting impacts.
The court heard that incidents came to light in 2022, with victims providing police interviews detailing his crimes.
After initially denying the offences, Malanti pleaded guilty to six counts of engaging in sexual activity with a child and engaging in sexual activity in presence of a child.
He was convicted and sentenced to 12 years and 10 months in prison, with an extended two-year license period, and was ordered to be subject to an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
The judge acknowledged the courage of the victims, emphasizing that no prison sentence could undo the harm caused.
Malanti, of Tredegar Road, Ebbw Vale, had a previous good character but was found guilty of exploiting and abusing minors in a severe manner.
